When I started this site I was blissfully unaware of any other Queen Of The South web sites around, but I have since discovered two very good ones, which I presume where set up for much the same purpose as this one. I decided to keep going with my site, not to compete with those already there but to offer an alternative and, hopefully, to catch some surfers that may have missed the existing sites. I have provided links to the other two sites, and hopefully they will do the same for me.
I have been a Queens fan for well over 10 years and have been going regularly to home and away games for about 8 years, barring a couple of years when I've been down south and I've seen some bad times and some good times. I witnessed the Harkness era when Queens were the butt of all of Scottish footballs jokes, no money went into the team and manager after manager came and went because they had the audacity to presume that being manager gave them the right to pick the team, which everybody knows is the job of the chairman. All that changed when Norman Blount took over and a new era began.
Over the past few years since Blount took over, good things have been happening at Palmerston park. An impressive youth policy was put into place, we have a settled management team and finally quality players are coming to the club. There's still a long way to go but things are progressing in the right direction. Oh, and the new stands pretty cool too! On the back of what I've seen so far, pre-season, the team looks as good as I've seen, playing good football well above the normal second division standard so, maybe, this is our year for promotion. Having been at last years cup final against Falkirk I'm definitely hungry for more of the same!
The idea behind this site is to bring the clubs name to a wider audience and to give exiled Doonhamers a chance to keep up with the happenings at the club. I will do my best to get the latest news from around the club and all the match reports will be written by myself when possible. The intention is to be around for the whole season but if that's not possible I will avoid re-hashing other peoples reports. Any volunteers for writing match reports would be more than welcome. Hopefully the site will grow with time perhaps including photos and player/staff interviews if possible, but for now it will start off with the basics [To get the site up before the start of the season I have had to drop most of the graphics and pictures for now and some of the pages are incomplete, but they will appear soon, AC]. I'll also do my very best to get the updates done as quickly as possible, especially where news and results are concerned. Please remember that this site is not affiliated with the club and so any opinions are my own and any news etc. will come from various sources and may or may not turn out to be correct.
So that's about it, hope you enjoy the site and keep checking back for updates. I'd appreciate any feedback, good or bad (honest!) so email me or sign the guest book or mailing list (when/if they appear) and let me know what you think.
